Minoan Harvest Vase

Ceremonial vase with relief carving of men

The Harvest Vase is made of steatite. It is a rhyton (ceremonial libation vessel) and it has a relief carving of a group of men led by a man holding a staff. The men hold harvesting tools and sing in the accompaniment of the sistrum. Found in Agia Triada, Crete. 1500-1450 BCE. Exhibited at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum.
