Diadoumenos and Aphrodite Statues

Two marble statues depicting a diadoumenos athlete and Aphrodite

Diadoumenos (youth binding his hair) was found in the House of Diadoumenos in Delos. It is a 100 BCE copy of the famous Diadoumenos statue made by Polykleitos about 450-425 BCE. The statue of Aphrodite is of the type “Syracuse Aphrodite”, and is a copy of an original dated to the 4th c. BCE.
